OUCH!
I am a bit skeptical about this story.
UPDATE: Check out this claim that this isn't the first time this has happened (to someone, not to the same person).
Sounds Urban Legend-like to me (though snopes.com doesn't mention it, yet).
A dentist found the source of the toothache Patrick Lawler was complaining about on the roof of his mouth: a four-inch nail he had unknowingly embedded in his skull six days earlier. From time to time my wife will notice a scrape or scratch that I don't recall how I got (usually basketball-related). But a four-inch nail? Thanks to Ann Althouse for the link.

Doctors at the hospital said it was the second time a patient had failed to notice a nailgun had fired a nail into their heads.
Sounds Urban Legend-like to me (though snopes.com doesn't mention it, yet).
