LABOR DAY
We went to the pool for one last swim before it closes for the season. The sky was bright and the air a warm 85 degrees. But the water was cool and the occasional breeze chilled rather than refreshed.
Grilled cheeseburgers and ate them with a healthy side of potato chips and sweet, sticky flavored sodas. All good summer food.
But the grocery store had a cart filled with flip-flops and grilling tools “priced for quick sale.” And suddenly chili and soups start sounding good.
Another good summer, gone.
