It Makes a Difference to the Sheep

I'm a big U2 fan and admire Bono for using his prominence for good. Still, this made me laugh:

Bono, the lead singer of the band U2 is famous throughout the entertainment industry for being more than just a little self-righteous.

He was playing a U2 concert in Glasgow, Scotland when he asked the audience for total quiet.

Then in the silence, he started to slowly clap his hands ... once every few seconds.

Holding the audience in total silence, he says into the microphone,

“Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies.”

A voice with a broad Scottish accent, from near the front of the crowd, pierces the silence ...

... ... ... ... ... ... “Well, ... stop doin’ it then!”

UPDATE: Oh dear. Ahistoricality did what I often do--run a too-good-to-be-true story by snopes.com before airing it to the world--but inexplicably did not do this time around. Alas, this one is, indeed, too good to be true.
